I’m Dawn, I met Angela at the Rivers Hospital where we both worked and where I first found out about Angie’s Charity and what she was aiming to achieve.
I have had family members who have struggled with their mental health and I think it is a great way to support people by providing them with a safe space when they need that extra help and hopefully put a smile on their face.
I started by helping hold the social support groups and the walk and talk and now due to work commitments I help on a Tuesday and once a month on a Thursday. I also help with fundraising events. It’s lovely to see the people who come having a chat and a laugh and making new friends.
Volunteering at butterflyeffect has helped me gain confidence, make friends and opened opportunities for me.
